Crown of Ash
Verse 1
O’ Lord, You ask me, "What do I see?"
I lift my eyes to the Sea of Glass.
I see a man before Your throne,
In robes of white and light alone.
A crown of stones, a gift of grace,
Reflecting back the Savior’s face.
Chorus
"Do you see these to My right?"
O’ yes, Lord, I see!
They are great in number, a sea of white.
These are the ones you led to confess
The Great I AM from the wilderness.
These are the ones who made it Home.
And I wept with delight before the throne.
Bridge
(The music thins to a heartbeat)
Then the atmosphere changed, the light grew cold,
As a different story began to unfold.
The Lord said, "Son, look to My left...
Do you see the ones of hope bereft?"
Verse 2
O’ yes, Lord, I see...
But there are so many more.
A harvest lost on a silent shore.
The ones passed by, the ones forgot,
Sinking under the sea of glass.
Outro
I felt the crown begin to slide,
From a head once filled with holy pride.
From head to feet, the gold turned grey,
As every stone dissolved away.
No more glory, no more flash...
Just the sound of gold turning to ash.
(Long Pause)
And I wept.
